I call this my running late outfit. The easiest thing to do when you have no time but still want to look put together – throw on a cute printed dress. I have grown up watching my mother, grand – mother and mother in law rock Ikat cotton and silk sarees. Of course I dint grow up watching my mother in law but have seen her for a long time so that counts ๐Ÿ™‚ When I saw this black Ikat dress, I instantly fell in love with it; I just had to get it!

A little gyaan from Google on ย — Ikat, or ikkat, is a dyeing technique used to pattern textiles that employs resist dyeing on the yarns prior to dyeing and weaving the fabric. In ikat the resist is formed by binding individual yarns or bundles of yarns with a tight wrapping applied in the desired pattern. The yarns are then dyed.

The modern day version of ikat comes in many forms. The ikat prints are reproduced and used on various fabrics like chiffon. My dress from ONLY Indiaย is a fluid & feminine chiffon dress with a vibrant ikat print. It has adorable bell sleeves which are an absolute hit this season.I styled my look wearing my hair in loose waves, a brown bag from Splash Fashions India, brown brogues from Max Fashion India. I wore my favorite extra large silver Jumkas with orange beads to complete my look.

I hope you enjoyed this post, I sure had a great time styling my outfit and sharing it with all of you. Here’s wishing you a great weekend ๐Ÿ™‚
