Last week we helped you get started with college in style, this week its all about looking like a boss at work. Today I give you my version of power dressing. The whole concept of power dressing came into being in the 1980’s when women were establishing their hold as political and corporate heads. The norms of power dressing have relaxed now and the modern power dressing is more of an indulgence and breaking the basic rules of just blazers and trousers.
If you are working in a corporate or a firm these tips will help you a lot. Dressing well and looking good is as important as skill and hard work for your success. Dressing well especially power dressing commands respect and helps people take notice of you. How you dress can add to how you are perceived at work.
Power dressing is all about making that appearance; add as much of your style and character as possible to your outfit. If you are some one who loves to play with colour the outfit that I have put together is an example of how you can dress like a boss and not give up on your fun personality. If you are more of a neutral color person make sure you play with pastels and not be stuck with black, white, beige and grey. If colors make your uncomfortable I suggest you add warm tones with neutrals. Add a burgundy top with beige trousers or a beige jacket over grey trousers – this will cater to your needs of sticking to neutrals
Another great tip to make your work outfit look great is to add a nice silk scarf. If you are someone who is not into blazers scarves are your best-friend. You can style them with shirts and tops in multiple ways and they make a plain outfit come to life. These were few of my tips on power dressing ; I really encourage you to make that extra effort to dress well to work and see how much of a difference that makes.
For this look I chose a navy blue pencil skirt because it gives such a sleek look to the outfit. I paired it with a mustard top and burgundy block heels. Office wear doesn’t have to be boring ; dont be afraid to mix colors and prints. I accessorized my outfit with a tan handbag, a simple choker and loops. I love how all the colors come together so well in this outfit.
This outfit was my version of power dressing hope you liked it just as much as I did. Please do follow us on instagram @lechicdiaries for more pictures and fun stuff. Also, do tag us on Instagram if you take some ideas from us and recreate these looks – we would love to see your recreations.
